Manurewa Town Centre
Working with Auckland Transport to undertake an accessibility audit of the Manurewa Town Centre’s external realm, including parking, wayfinding, pedestrian access and general public spaces centralised around the town centre.
Purpose of the review is to establish whether aspects of the current access and facilities were suitable for the community and especially people with disabilities.
As part of this task, BarrierFree worked in collaboration with the local community group Te Roopu Waiora Trust who both support whanua with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, and provide their Maori community with essential links to key disability organisations from local through to government level.
Our report provides recommendations which will assist Auckland Transport and the Manurewa Local Board with their decisions on planning for the centre’s improvements to provide physical independence as a positive impact in the future.
