Our work

BarrierFree focuses on a combination of compliance requirements and Universal Design principles, with the end goal of improving the experience of people in different environments.

Our approach aims to advance better access for everyone, regardless of age or ability so people will have the choice to be active members of their community.

Often, our opinion is sought on compliance matters by Territorial Authorities and/or designers as part of the building consent process. We also provide education of industry, both in the form of seminars and in auditing, reporting and collaborating with project design teams, and our team members are often asked to sit on reference or advisory groups. Occasionally, the Trust is also asked to write guidance material on behalf of central or local government.
